Active Primary Sports offers a wealth of sporting activities to children aged four to twelve years through PE lessons, pre and after school clubs, holiday clubs, and football coaching via our Player Development Football Academy.
Active Primary Sports was founded in 2008 by Wayne Clarke, a Footballer and Sports graduate who had a natural love of sports. Wayne wanted to show that everyone can be sporty and that there is a sports activity for everyone.
We are inclusive through our sports activities; we create a caring, fun and inspiring environment where children feel safe and valued. We care for and support the children by putting them at ease with ice breaking games and by showing them that we like to have fun too. We teach a range of age appropriate sports games and activities, and we see new skills developing, friendships forming and self-esteem flourishing. Many children tell us: “I didn’t think I could do this."
Led by a team of coaches who specialise in sport, we provide children with an opportunity to experience activities such as Archery, Rocket Ball, Lacrosse, Ultimate Frisbee, Zorbing, Football, Netball and Tennis. We keep consistency by using the same coaches within the schools we work with so that we can build rapport with teachers and children alike.
Our coaches are DBS checked fully qualified sports specialists. Our activities are structured and the safety and security of each child is paramount to us.
MEET THE TEAM
I've been working within the sports industry for over 11 years, playing football in my native town of Birmingham where I also gained my coaching qualifications. Then moving on to work within the community, delivering a wide range of sports. I'm very keen to improve physical fitness and promote a natural love of sports from a young age. As a company we love inspiring, educating and showing children they can be great at sport.
I've been working as a sports co-ordinator at Active Primary Sports for just over a year. I graduated from The University of Chichester completing a Sports Development and Coaching degree. I am a fluent Swedish speaker having lived there for three years playing football professionally. What I love most about my job is to see the progression of sporting ability throughout the year.
I’m the line manager at Active Primary Sports and I absolutely love my job. I have an NVQ level 3 in football coaching and BTEC level 2. The best part of my job is to watch the players who at the beginning feel like they can’t do it, then blossom and gain skills and confidence. I look forward to seeing the techniques learnt in class applied in matches.
I enjoy working with younger children helping them to develop and flourish as fun, kind, healthy individuals. Creating a fun atmosphere where children can learn and feel safe is my key strength. Keeping fit and healthy is also part of my lifestyle so I like to encourage the younger generation to do the same. I also lead our arts and crafts sessions which is a perfect way to inspire children to be creative, and express themselves.
I have been working with children since the age of 18 starting out as a scout leader.I work at Otford Nursery and After School Club as deputy manager. I enjoy Arts and Crafts, making a mess and encouraging children to be creative and have fun. I am Level 3 qualified in child care and development. I really like the idea of keeping children active through a range of sports and activities. Seeing children develop throughout the years is very rewarding within my role.
My children attend clubs that are run by Active Primary Sports so they have experienced first hand how fantastic they are! I spent most of my working life in press and media relations at a large investment bank. I now work for the team at APS and enjoy the interaction with parents and schools. I have loved seeing this website come to life. I can't confess to being sporty like my colleagues!
